The full-frame camera Sony Alpha A7 III includes a backlit Exmor R CMOS image sensor with 24.2 MP resolution and high ISO performance. The camera achieves high-quality 4K video, a large dynamic range of up to 15 stops at low ISO sensitivity, and excellent resolution with noise reduction. The A7 III offers fast shots with up to 10 fps in combination with no less than 693 phase detection AF points, covering 93% of the image, as well as 425 AF contrast points. Thanks to these tools and the compact structure, the A7 III is a versatile and accessible tool for all types of photographers, from amateurs to professionals.
The 24.2 MP full-frame Exmor CMOS R image sensor is equipped with a new and improved BIONZ X processing sensor and a front LSI that maximizes overall performance. This results in processing speeds 1.8 times faster than the Alpha A7 II. These powerful components work together to enable the camera to shoot at higher speeds while simultaneously providing an incredible 100 - 51200 ISO range (expandable to ISO 50 - 204800 for still images) and a possible 1.5 stop improvement in image quality. The camera has a wide dynamic range of up to 15 stops at low sensitivities. In addition, several innovations have been applied for more accurate color reproduction of skin tones.
AF responses and monitoring speed have been greatly improved compared to its predecessor: almost twice the focusing speed in low light conditions and 2x tracking speed. This results in a reliable focusing system with excellent precision and accuracy. The acclaimed Eye AF function is now available on this new camera (also in AF-C mode).
The Alpha 7 III's upgraded image processor enables 24.2 MP shooting at 10 fps and is equipped with accurate AF / AE monitoring for up to 177 JPEG / RAW images or 89 uncompressed RAW images. This super fast 10fps mode is available with a mechanical shutter or completely silent recording. The camera can also record continuously at up to 8 fps in Live View mode with minimal lag in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen. These super-fast options even allow you to accurately capture fast subject movements or volatile moments in detail.

High-quality 4K video
The Alpha 7 III is ideal as a camcorder and offers 4K video recordings (3840 x 2160 pixels) over the full width of the full frame image sensor. For Super 35mm recordings the camera uses reading of each pixel without linking pixels, resulting in 2.4x the data for 4K images. The camera can over-display this - getting high-quality 4K footage with exceptional detail and good depth. The new HLG (Hybrid Gamma Register) picture profile on the Alpha 7 III supports an HDR workflow, enabling HDR (HLG) - compatible TVs to reproduce vivid 4K HDR images. In addition, both S-Log2 and S-Log3 are available for more color gradation. The camera can also record Full HD at 120 fps with a maximum of 100 Mbps, allowing 4x or 5x slow motion editing of material in Full HD resolution with AF monitoring.
XGA OLED viewfinder
The Alpha 7 III features a high-resolution, high-contrast XGA OLED Viewfinder with approximately 2.3 million dots for highly accurate vivid reproduction of detail. Image quality settings 'Standard' and 'High' are also available for both viewfinder and monitor. Hassle-free file transfers to a smartphone, tablet, computer or FTP server via Wi-Fi possible, as is the use of the SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.1 Gen 1) Type-C connection for extra flexibility in terms of delivering current and faster file transfer speeds when the camera is connected.
