The D850's fast, ultra-high resolution FX-format sensor uses 45.7 megapixels of effective resolution to produce highly detailed 45.4 MP files. Print ultra-high resolution images in extremely large formats. Shoot full format videos with 4K resolution. The back-illuminated CMOS sensor has no optical low-pass filter and features seamless microlenses built into chips, as well as anti-reflective treatment. Incoming light hits the photodiodes more efficiently, resulting in exceptional detail and incredible dynamic range. And the 153-point AF system, borrowed from the D5, ensures the sharp focus and wide coverage you need in your ultra-high resolution full-frame images.
The D850 shoots at 7 fps. But if you prefer, you can shoot at 9fps if you use the MB-D18 multi-battery pack with the EN-EL18B battery (used in the D5) in it. You'll get full-resolution images, even when shooting RAW, and the D5's battery delivers up to 1840 shots on one charge (in CIPA-standard Frame-by-Frame shooting mode). A dedicated AF processor ensures excellent subject recognition if you shoot a large number of frames per second. Even small subjects, moving fast and in low light conditions can be captured with excellent precision. And with the camera's dual card slot, you can use a UHS-II SD card and an XQD card, the fastest possible combination of cards.
The fast EXPEED 5 processing system, borrowed from the D5, ensures excellent image quality in the extremely wide ISO range. The sensitive autofocus system achieves incredible precision down to -3 EV at all focus points with the center point down to -4 EV (ISO 100, 20 ° C). The 180,000 pixel RGB sensor and advanced scene recognition system achieve spectacular results with sensitivity down to -3 EV.
Resistance. Precision. The D850 achieves unprecedented perfection. Performance is optimal shooting at any RAW size: large, medium, or small. And both the camera and the optional MB-D18 Multi Battery Pack are remarkably weather-sealed, so you can shoot longer, anywhere. This camera is also the first DSLR with an on-camera focus stacking mode, for exceptionally sharp images with great depth of field.
